Using The National Map Lidar Elevation Data to Study Volcanoes

Light detection and ranging (lidar) point cloud data were used to generate digital elevation models (DEMs) of Mount St. Helens. The high resolution and increased vertical accuracy lidar DEMs are incorporated into the National Elevation Dataset, the elevation layer of The National Map, and are important for studying debris flows surrounding the volcano.
